PSC FAQ
Who can join?
The club is open to all students in grades 4 through 8, regardless of surfing experience. Beginners, intermediate surfers, and competitive surfers are all welcome.
Can my child join if they’ve never surfed before?
Absolutely! We welcome all skill levels and tailor instruction so that every student can progress at their own pace.
Do I need my own surfboard and wetsuit?
No — equipment is provided for all members. However, if you have your own gear, we encourage you to bring it. Foam boards and rental wetsuits are available upon request.
Where and when does the club meet?
We meet after school in Ocean Beach at Dog Beach or Avalanche. Specific locations and times will be shared with registered participants before the season begins.
How long is each practice?
Each after school practice typically runs for about 1.5 Hours, including safety checks, warm-up, instruction, and surf time.
Is transportation provided?
Transportation is not provided by the club. Parents/guardians are responsible for getting athletes to and from the beach.
What safety measures are in place?
We maintain a low student-to-instructor ratio, use proper safety gear, and choose surf spots appropriate for the group’s skill level. All instructors are trained in ocean rescue and first aid.
What happens in bad weather or unsafe surf conditions?
The ocean is unpredictable and if ocean conditions are unsafe, sessions may be rescheduled or replaced with alternative activities focused on surfing knowledge, ocean safety, and environmental stewardship - depending upon the coaches' discretion.
How do I register my child?
Registration can be completed online through our website, over the phone, or in person at our storefront. Spaces are limited, so early sign-up is recommended.
Can parents watch the sessions?
Yes! We love having parents on the beach to cheer on their kids, as long as it doesn’t interfere with instruction or safety.
